Governing Board

A five-member Governing Board governs Yuma Elementary School District One. Our Board members serve without pay and are elected to four-year terms. We open all regular meetings of the Governing Board to the public.

  • Scheduled Meetings: Second Tuesday of each month (except July)
  • Meeting Times: 5:45 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administration building
  • Meeting Locations: 450 West Sixth Street, Yuma, Arizona 85364

The Board and administration welcome public comment.

The electronic submission process to address the Governing Board, temporarily put in place due to increased COVID-19 cases, is no longer required. Members of the public are invited to attend meetings of the Board. Any individual may comment on any listed agenda item by completing a request form available at each meeting. The Board is subject to Arizona’s Open Meeting Law, which limits discussion to those subjects included on the agenda for each meeting.

  • Our Governing Board policies are available at the Arizona School Board website. To view these policies, select “Yuma Elementary School District No. 1” from the list on the left side of the page. The Governing Board approves all policy manuals and changes and posts updates to the ASBA website.

  • Yuma School District One has adopted a new governing board policy. This new policy regulation conforms to state and federal law.

    • None at this time.
  • Yuma School District One operates according to policies established by the Board and regulations developed by the Superintendent. The Board, which represents the state and local community, adopts policies after careful deliberation, and the school administration implements them through specific regulations and procedures. The Board and administration then appraise the effects of its policies and procedures and makes revisions as necessary.
